I love tamarind, in my country we mostly drink it as a “juice”

Love tamarind! A great stand-in for lime juice when making guacamole and there are no limes to be found but agree it has so many possible applications. Love the complexity of sour tamarind - makes delicious pate de fruit and an interesting curd as well! Thanks for sharing all this info!

Love tamarind and love this little deep dive on it! ❤️

I’m Vietnamese Australian and I grew up eating a lot of Vietnamese food. Apart from just eating it raw (like in your TikTok!) one of my favourite uses of tamarind is making ‘canh chua’ which is a Vietnamese sweet and sour fish soup. It has fresh fish, tomatoes, pineapples, okra and Vietnamese herbs, and uses tamarind in the broth to help create that balanced flavour. You’d love it!

I’m sure there are variations of this across the world but you can deseed the fresh tamarind and mix with sugar, salt and chilli as a snack too.

LOVE sour tamarind! To my knowledge Iranian Ghalieh Mahi is typically a stew. It also comes in lavashak (fruit leather) form!

Thank you! Didn't realize it could be lavashak that's such good intel

Haha me putting fruit leather in parentheses as if THE condiment Claire wouldn’t know 🤣
