A notable mention goes out to the silver medalist, soy sauce?! Now I was not expecting this one and I must say I was so pleased with the match up. I like an underdog story what can I say?
This iconic final deserves a recipe don’t you think? One of my favorite compound butters is one that includes soy sauce. Let’s call it my gold medal butter from now on. Lucky for you (and me), I already have sent this recipe out via substack months ago! You can find it here.
I was frankly shocked by a few of the match ups… Not disappointed as those were also my personal choices, but pleasantly surprised by the majority winner.
butter v olive oil (butter won by a landslide)
hummus v tzatziki (very close)
soy sauce v hot sauce (a good 10% difference)

As a Japanese native, it makes me happy that Butter and Soy Sauce made it to top 2.
We love butter-shoyu as a flavor. It's on chicken, it's on pasta, it's on scallops, and literally everything like on grilled corn!
