Dry Jan Game Plan
This is my first year participating in dry January and I must say, it’s been relatively easy thus far. I’ve never been that big of a drinker to be honest but I just love the taste of a great zingy cocktail or a nice rich glass of red wine alongside some cheese. I have a new set morning and apéro routine, recipes here, which have made this experience beyond enjoyable.

I’m lucky enough that many brands reached out to me before the holidays and sent me some non-alc goodies to prepare for January. I’ve had the chance to taste quite a bit of them and I’ve listed some of my favorites here below for you.
While I’m not much of a drink-person (I hate water) and would never order a beverage in general at a restaurant if it wasn’t alcoholic, the below have changed my mind about accompanying a meal with a drink. Whether the drink is alcoholic or not, just be mindful of the flavors and find the perfect match to the pair!
NON
I was skeptical to try any flavor other than the NON3 Toasted Cinnamon & Yuzu but I finally tried the NON1 Salted Raspberry Chamomile and now I immediately must try the NON7 Stewed Cherry. I don’t love sweet drinks and these are all really light, fresh, and don’t even need to be altered with a squeeze of lime or diluted whatsoever. I got mine on DELLI.
If you’re reading this from Australia… I may or may not be hosting an event with these guys next month! Stay tuned for my book tour dates :)
WILD IDOL
Have a fancy occasion coming up? Perhaps you want to celebrate a pregnancy? This Wild Idol non-alcoholic sparkling rosé will do just the drink. I served this at my book launch in September and always have a few bottles on hand at my flat in case I have non-drinkers attend my dinner parties.
SAKURA PALOMA
I’ve only had this once but let’s just say my friends and I finished it there and then. I served it only with sparkling water and lime and it was honestly absolute perfection. Again, not too sweet, and really felt like a fun cocktail pre-dinner treat. I also got mine on DELLI.
MOTHER ROOT
I have been using this product for a year now, and honestly I rarely use it for cocktail because I drink it throughout the day. It’s made with ginger, ACV, honey, and a bit of chili so it’s nice, sharp, and spiced. Pour it at the bottom of your cup and top with some still or sparkling water as a good work-motivator bevvy.
BOTIVO
I’m sure you’ve seen t. It’s tangy, citrusy, and bitter in the best of ways. It’s really versatile so you can suit it to your taste depending on what you serve it with. I tend to serve it with soda water and a slice of fruit (pear or quince are personal favorites) but you could always add it to a glass of tonic or ginger beer!
THREE SPIRIT
Think of this drink as woody but tangy all at the same time? It’s nice and bitter but has a rounded and slightly sweet aftertaste. I like drinking this in the evening with some tonic water.
SIX WAYS
Okay this is NOT a mocktail situation but i’ve been loving this brand. I start my morning with their collagen but the real star of the show is their nighttime hot chocolate… When I TELL YOU it’s so delicious, doesn’t taste like fake sweetener, and has a bunch of natural ingredients (ie chamomile, ashwaganda… ) that make you feel nice, cozy, and sleepy… I’m not a hot chocolate girl but I truly look forward to my mug of hot choc the moment I wake up!
And last but not least, make sure to check out my new morning and apéro routine!
As someone who can’t drink alcohol for health reasons I’m always looking to add and try more non-alcoholic drinks. I can’t wait tl try these suggestions! 😁
You should check out Drink the Pathfinder. It's a hemp based N/A amaro. Fantastic aperitif/digestif option that's amazing mixed or on its own.
