London: City Guide
Contrary to popular belief, I do live here. Here are some of my top recommendations!
As you may have noticed, my IG city guides have disappeared due to IG dismantling the feature on their app. I have been pleasantly surprised (and also semi stressed) by how many messages I get daily asking me where my guides went! I knew you all appreciated them but I did not realize just HOW MUCH.
Eternally grateful for your trust in my recommendations! I have been speed rushing these to get them posted asap since a lot of you are traveling for the holidays but they do take time so thank you for understanding. I’ve tried to add all of my favorite spots and things to do when I’m home but I’m sure I’ll remember more and keep updating the list :)
My top ask was Paris which I’ve already posted here, but the second most requested guide was for London. It’s beautiful and jolly during the winter, and no city quite compares to it when it’s sunny. So with that, here is your London City Guide!
My Top 3 Spots:
Gold: There is a reason this is my favorite restaurant. The menu is seasonal, most dishes include and element cooked on live-fire and their cocktails are fantastic. I’m a big veggie dish girl and most of theirs are spot on. Most definitely go for the puntarelle (if they’re in season), meatballs, a pasta dish, the chicken (trust me I was shocked when I first reluctantly had it) and please, I beg of you, do not forget to order my favorite dish in London, the chargrilled hispi cabbage.
Paul Rothe and Son: This deli is a must see in London. It’s a cute condiment shop on a small curved road in Marylebone, that doubles as a sandwich counter. It was started by Paul Rothe and is now run by his son and grandson. My order: egg, anchovy, lettuce, mustard on wheat. The coronation chicken is also a must. Read more about it here! It’s great for a quick, cheap bite when you’re running around town.
Sudu: local Malaysian spot in Queen’s Park. Unlike nearly all restaurants in London you do not need a booking to eat here. They serve the most flaky roti I’ve ever had and the staff is always so lovely. It’s chill, easy, delicious and a delicious non fussy spot. Go for their roti canai + chicken kari, beef rendang, kerabu salad, side of ikan bilis kacang (anchovies and peanuts), coconut rice… They also have this WILD dessert called the ABC (sweet red beans, grass jelly, creamed sweet corn topped
with shaved ice, red syrup, palm sugar and evaporated milk) that’s an absolute must.
Now for the ENTIRE list…. Restaurants, Bakeries, Wine Bars, Bars, Shopping, and Sightseeing.
