I 100% associate with my star sign - scorpio if that wasn’t horrifyingly obvious - primarily because of the grasp nostalgia has on me. Growing up, most of my memories revolve around flavor so naturally, I feel very strongly about certain foodstuffs… One of those, is an Erewhon smoothie called the Mint Chip Energizer.
I’ve said this once and I’ll happily say it again: people judge an $18 smoothie that’s good for you and not a $20 average cocktail. Not that I’m forgiving this expensive beverage or think it’s reasonable by any means; however, I just think people should stop judging the occasional healthy splurge and focus on their spending on battery acid tasting vodka at crappy bars.
Back to the point, this is my favorite shake EVER. I always taste the new fun “shake of the moment” when I’m back in LA but none have ever taken over first place in my heart. I’ve been trying to recreate this shake for YEARS but this week, I finally cracked the code using an ingredient I would have never thought to add in.

I spent the past few weeks learning about chocolate, its history, and making cocoa nibs from scratch. Would I like to admit I kept the final product as a nib rather than a processed bar of chocolate purely to make this shake? nope. Did I though? absolutely.

If I keep calling it a Mint Chip Energizer do you think Erewhon will sue me (notice me xoxo)?!?!!?!? Although these aren’t the same ingredients in the OG Energizer, the shake ends up tasting the same! I also like adding protein to it so that it actually has some sort of sustenance in it rather than just being super duper uber delicious.
